In this hour, God’s will for the Body of Christ is unity.
“A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.”
Never in history has there been a more important time for the Church to be walking in unity. There are so many promises and wonderful blessings in God’s Word regarding our obedience to walk in unity.
In Psalm 133:1, we see God expressing His heart to see brothers and sisters dwelling in unity. He goes onto say how good (best, beautiful, better, bountiful) and how pleasant (delightful, sweet) this truly is.
God describes unity as a “precious ointment”. In other words, unity is something to be valued and highly sought after. Unity is something to be protected and treasured.
We can see that unity starts at the head and saturates everything, even right down through to the garments. Everyone benefits when we choose to be unified. It can be felt through the whole Body of Christ. God’s Kingdom advances exponentially when we are united, and no place remains untouched from His blessing.
It is in this place of unity within the Body of Christ where God commands a blessing. If we want to see unprecedented revival, a huge key to receiving the unstoppable blessing of God is simply this: unity.
Unity is what attracts God’s attention. Unity is what we need in this critical hour, especially as the time draws closer to our Lord’s return. Let us be a people that continue to see the best in each other and deliberately choose unity.
Heavenly Father, we see in Your Word how vital unity is to Your Kingdom. We come before You today and ask for forgiveness where we have not always chosen unity—even where we have torn down a brother or sister in the Lord. We thank You Jesus that when we confess our sin and ask for forgiveness, You are faithful and just to forgive our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Lord, help each one of us to understand the power of unity, to continue choosing unity, and to always display Your heart which consistently builds up, encourages, and strengthens others. This we pray in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.
