10 Days of Prayer and Fasting for Babies Born Alive after an Abortion 2026
Abortion is the greatest tragedy of all time, with an estimated 90,000+ lives ended in Australia every year.
Some babies can survive an abortion procedure and live for anywhere from minutes to several hours — even without lifesaving care.
The Canberra Declaration, in conjunction with the Australian Christian Lobby, FamilyVoice Australia, Love Australia, the Australian Family Coalition and CitizenGo are calling for 10 days of prayer and fasting for these precious little lives.
In 2024, midwife Louise Adsett testified at a Queensland Parliamentary hearing about this abhorrent reality.
“There has been an increase in numbers of social terminations at later gestations, and this is now common. We’ve had babies born alive after terminations from 15 to 22 weeks, born alive, gasping for air, moving and having a palpable heart rate, fighting for their lives.
“These babies were alive from anywhere from two to 20 minutes to three to five hours.
“Sometimes babies born alive after an abortion are put into witch’s hats and are covered, taken out of the room, and die while in that witch’s hat. This is distressing to many of the midwives, as they are unable to provide any medical care for the baby but are limited to providing comfort care only, which is merely wrapping and holding the baby.”
Louise Adsett’s full testimony can be viewed below.
Receive Daily Devotionals for These 10 Days
Tragically, there is no nationwide law that requires these babies to be cared for, and, if possible, given treatment that will save their lives.
If passed, the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2026 would ensure that every baby born alive after an abortion is given care — and if possible, lifesaving care.
Please join us during this prayer campaign to see this nation changed and the dignity, value and worth of every individual upheld.
Each day, from Monday, 10 August until Wednesday, 19 August, the Canberra Declaration will send a daily devotional to your email inbox. Each devotional will help inform your mind, move your heart, and fuel your prayers.
Use the form below to sign up for these daily prayer devotionals.
Your contact details are confidential, and will only be used for these ten days of prayer and fasting.
(Note: This daily devotional email list will be destroyed at the conclusion of this prayer campaign. Please ignore the information on the bottom of this sign up form — you will not be added to the Canberra Declaration mailing list.)
Watch the Official Launch!
On Wednesday 5 August, the Canberra Declaration officially launched our prayer campaign for babies born alive and left to die after an abortion.
We were honoured to have 10 special guest speakers, including the Hon Llew O’Brien MP for Wide Bay, Queensland. Mr O’Brien will introduce the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2026 into federal parliament on Monday, 17 August (date subject to change). During the launch Llew revealed:
“These little people are exactly that. They are little human beings, created in the image of God. And they are the most vulnerable people.
“As a Christian I have a duty to look after them. I was a policeman before I entered parliament. Going into that job, I swore on a Bible that I would protect life. That oath doesn’t end with the police.
“This bill… imposes a duty on medical professionals to give the appropriate care to babies who are born alive. There is a definite need for this, sadly.”
Don’t miss Llew’s full comments and presentations from all ten guest speakers in the official launch video below!
Prayer Points for Babies Born Alive Left to Die
We are praying for:
- The Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2026 to pass federal parliament. Micah 6:7–8
- A change of hearts and minds towards life across the nation. Psalm 139:13–16
- Many to see the Baby Booties display on Parliament House’s lawns and many churches to be inspired to show the Born Alive Left to Die film. Hebrews 4:16
Every prayer is vital to this cause. As Walter Wink famously said, “History belongs to the intercessors.” Thank you for interceding for the unborn.

Born Alive Left to Die Film
An Australian-made documentary is exposing what few are willing to discuss: babies born alive after abortion — and left to die.
The documentary, titled Born Alive Left To Die, is difficult to watch. Yet this 22-minute film sensitively and unflinchingly presents the medical evidence that every Australian needs to know.
Many Australians remain unaware of our nation’s abortion laws, which now allow for abortions up to birth. If the public were properly informed, most would be shocked at the inhumane way these babies are treated.
This documentary, produced by the Australian Christian Lobby, will awaken hearts and deepen compassion for the unborn. It will inspire Christians to pray and act on behalf of Australia’s most vulnerable children.
It will raise up support for mothers and their babies — in situations where mothers will be told that taking the baby’s life is the way to solve the ‘problem’.
Please watch the three-minute trailer of Born Alive Left to Die below.
Host a Screening
We urge you to prayerfully consider hosting a screening of this powerful film in your church or local/home/prayer group, and help turn the tide on the greatest moral crisis Australia faces.
There are 90,000 abortions in Australia every year. But only 40 adoptions. As Pastor Carl Robinson, interviewed in Born Alive Left to Die says, “That’s not good enough.”
“Every woman with an unexpected pregnancy [should be] provided with so much support that the idea of an abortion is unthinkable.”
“Adoption”, not abortion, Robinson said, should “be the norm in Australia.”
“Babies deserve better. Women deserve better. Fathers, families, the whole of society, deserve better.”
Click the orange button below to express your interest in hosting a screening.
Training Night for Born Alive Left to Die Documentary
To support prayerful preparation for hosting a screening, the ACL is providing a training night on Monday, 10 August.
The training, which will be run on Zoom, will cover how to help people respond well to the documentary in prayer, action, and where necessary, provide access to support groups (such as Diamond Women and House of Refuge ministries).

Baby Booties Display: Parliament House, Canberra
Every day in Australia, unborn babies lose their lives through abortion — some in pregnancy, some born alive and left without care. These are not statistics. They are lives, deeply known and loved by God.
The Baby Booties campaign is a prayerful act of remembrance and advocacy. Every pair of tiny booties represents a life lost — and a prayer lifted.
This year, we invite you to join Baby Booties 2026 by praying and participating in a campaign that makes visible the invisible, and gives voice to the voiceless.
Over the last three years, more than 10,000 baby booties were sent in from hundreds of Australians. Displayed in the shape of a cross on the lawns of Parliament House, each one made a silent but unforgettable declaration: Life matters.
Join us through prayer or in person on Monday, 17 August 2026, from 11:30am–1pm AEST to honour the lives lost and bless the new ones.
This time involves invited speakers, including by parliamentarians. Your support on our Parliament House’s lawns is greatly appreciated.
