Prayer for Life 2026

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting for Life in 2026

Abortion is the greatest tragedy of all time, with an estimated 90,000+ lives ended in Australia every year.

Together, let’s start this year partnering with the Lord, seeking afresh his mercy and redemption in our national call to 21 days of prayer and fasting for the unborn.

May the shedding of this innocent blood be unthinkable for each generation across our land. May human life from conception be greatly treasured and protected.

The 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting begins this Sunday, 18th January, and concludes on Saturday, 7th February 2026.

Official Launch of 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting for Life 2026

To anticipate this important and vital time of prayer and fasting, the Canberra Declaration held a Zoom prayer meeting on Wednesday night, 14 January, to officially launch this prayer campaign and commit it to God’s throne of grace.

No less than nine special guests from pro-life Christian organisations and ministries came together to share, support and pray for each other, including:

  • Michelle Pearse (CEO, Australian Christian Lobby)
  • Jodi Pickard (Director, Love Australia and Love Adelaide)
  • Matthew Cliff (CEO, Cherish Life Qld)
  • Ann Browne (Prayer Coordinator, Love Australia)
  • Dave Pellowe (Founder, Church and State Conference and Good Sauce Founder)
  • Juliet Ballinger (President, Pregnancy Help Australia)
  • Michelle Oates (Australian life advocate)
  • Lara Wynyard (CEO, Pregnancy Help Australia)
  • Tosari Thomas (National Assistant, House of Refuge)

The Canberra Declaration is immensely proud to uphold these godly and passionate leaders who continue to stand for life (some have advocated for the unborn for many decades).

Watch the official launch below and be challenged and inspired by what these Christian leaders had to say. We thank all our guests for making themselves available to officially launch this prayer campaign.

Receive Daily Devotionals for These 21 Days

Love Australia, in conjunction with the Canberra Declaration, are releasing 21 devotionals to help us intercede for the unborn. One devotional will be made available each morning.

There are three ways you can read these devotionals.

1. Receive a link to each devotional in your inbox by subscribing to The Daily Declaration. Every Daily Declaration daily email subscriber will find the link to each morning’s new devotional in that day’s email newsletter. If you haven’t yet signed up to Australia’s largest Christian news site, please do so by clicking the green button below and subscribing to the ‘Daily Digest’ email. (Please note, this will sign you up to receive emails with each day’s news, commentary and other articles, not just the devotionals. But this is a bonus!)

2. Go to The Daily Declaration and find each day’s devotional. You can also access the dedicated 21 days of prayer and fasting for life 2026 Daily Declaration page here.

3. Receive each devotional in your inbox through Love Australia. To receive these daily Love Australia emails, please email the word “Prayer” to info@loveaustralia.org.au. If you are already on the Love Australia prayer database, you don’t need to subscribe again as you will receive the devotions automatically. Please do not unsubscribe from these devotionals, or you won’t receive any further emails from Love Australia, as it will take you off their database. If you choose not to participate in the prayer each day, simply delete those daily emails or open them occasionally when you do have time.

This year we are praying for:

  1. The Holy Spirit to transform our culture so that the shedding of this innocent blood becomes unthinkable in Australia. (Micah 6:7–8)
  2. The Church to be one, praying and advocating for the unborn. (John 17:21)
  3. Each church across Australia to become a trusted place of mercy and redemption, so that anyone experiencing an unexpected pregnancy or who has been wounded by abortion will find help, hope and healing. For every church be an effective House of Refuge for the unborn and their families, and Hubs of Love to be established in every city and town in the nation. (Hebrews 4:16)
  4. Those considering or wounded by abortion to receive compassionate and confidential care by contacting Pregnancy Help Australia or visiting a life-affirming pregnancy centre. (Exodus 15:26)
  5. Walks for life to flourish in every state and territory as a public witness. (Matthew 5:14–16)
  6. Australians to vote for and elect bold MPs who’ll stand for and champion the sanctity of life. (Psalm 139:13–16)

Every prayer is vital to this cause. As Walter Wink famously said, “History belongs to the intercessors.” Thank you for interceding for the unborn.

Launching Australia’s First 2026 Walk for Life

This prayer campaign is deliberately designed to conclude on the same day as Australia’s first 2026 walk for life in Adelaide. This is a strategic way of praying not just for this event, but for each walk for life which will be held across the nation, including the March for Life in Brisbane (date TBC), Mackay’s March for the Babies in October, Melbourne’s March for the Babies on 11 October and Perth’s Rally for Life in May.

Watch the highlights from the 2025 Adelaide Walk for Life, including a snippet from young father Kurt Mahlburg’s speech in the video below!
