Our History
The Canberra Declaration is an historic work of many individual contributors, community groups, clergy and Christian ministries, representing a wide variety of denominations. Over 20 leaders and clergy were involved in the drafting process which occurred over several months in the first half of 2010.
Dr Graham McLennan, National Alliance of Christian Leaders, Bill Muehlenberg, CultureWatch and Warwick Marsh, Australian Christian Values Institute played a key role in getting the project underway.
Dr Lachlan Dunjey, Morality in Medicine, and Jude Hennessey also helped the drafting process assisted by Ros Phillips from FamilyVoice Australia, along with many others.
Catholic and Anglican clergy and laity provided valuable input to the final draft.
The Canberra Declaration was released on the lawns of Parliament House with prayer by both Indigenous and non-indigenous Christian leaders during the ‘Government of God’ Conference, Parliament House, Canberra on Friday 23rd July 2010.
The Canberra Declaration is an active, caring, growing community of people who have a vision to see Australia’s Judeo-Christian Values revitalised.
If you would like to help us in our mission: to spread the word about the Canberra Declaration, contribute to the Daily Declaration or support the renewal of Christian Values in our nation, we invite you to firstly sign and read the Canberra Declaration.
